REQUIEM FOR A SPANISH PEASANT. SEPTEMBER
This book, according to review the back cover includes a dramatic episode of civil war in a village in Aragon. Mosen Millan is preparing to offer a Mass for the repose of the soul of a young woman she had loved as a child. While waiting for the audience, the priest reconstructs events: the failure of his mediation, which he thought he could save the boy, but that did not help but give it to his executors. The story is a perfect sobriety and simplicity no less profound and shocking. The narrative overwhelmed by his tight realism to the effectiveness of its symbols and the deep knowledge of losmecanismos of consciousness, revealed through the evocation of the priest. Undoubtedly, Requiem for a English peasant is one of the best works of Ramón J. Sender and a definitive book about our civil war, away from any panfletarismo.
This says the enthusiastic review of the back. Let's see if it is accurate or not. The issue of civil war is not easy, as we saw when we read The Blind Sunflowers, the wound still festers and even less has been closed. As Eduardo said when I commented , King , on May 2 began the two Spains. Subject to debate.
I hope your comments. Feel free to make them at any time of your reading.
