Following the suggestions of reading the previous post and thanking those who have included yours in the comments, I add two novels by famous realist writer Eça de Queiroz: Cousin Basilio (the Portuguese Madame Bovary) and The Crime of Father Amaro , whose tragic story, published in 1875, was taken the cinema in 2002 in a very good film set in contemporary Mexico. @ S
